Titanium 6AL 6V 2Sn Plate

Titanium 6AL 6V 2Sn Plate is heat treatable high strength alloy with lower toughness and ductility than Ti-6Al-4V and limited weldability.

Titanium 6AL 6V 2Sn Plate(6Al-6V-2Sn) is a heat treatable, high strength titanium alloy with higher strength and section hardenability that 6Al-4V. but with lower toughness and ductility and limited weldability. 6-6-2 is typically used in airframe component applications. Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn alloy is used for forgings and extrusions requiring greater strength thank Ti-6Al-4V. Typical uses include rocket engine cases, airframe applications, as well as fasteners. Fracture toughness and fatigue resistance are lower than Ti-6Al- 4V. This alpha-beta alloy is available in bar, billet, extrusions, plate, sheet, and wire.

An alpha-beta alloy similar to Ti 6-4, but with higher strength and deeper hardenability. Maximum strength may be developed in sections up to 2 inches thick. Anneal 1300 -1500°F for 20 minutes/inch thickness, 10 minutes minimum. Solution heat treat at 1650 ± 25°F for 60 ± 5 minutes, agitated water quench. Age at 1000°F ±15°F for 4 hours ±15 minutes, air cool.

The development of many different alloys has extended the application of titanium in industries ranging from industrial and chemical processing to power generation. This grade possesses good weldability, strength, ductility and formability.

Titanium Corrosion Resistance

Titanium's outstanding corrosion resistance is due to the formation of a tightly adherent oxide film on its surface. When damaged, this thin invisible layer immediately reforms, maintaining a surface which is completely resistant to corrosive attack in sea water and all natural environments. This oxide is so resistant to corrosion that titanium components often look brand new even after years of service.
